Architectural Silicone is a neutral-curing silicone sealant used for sealing and waterproofing structural joints in buildings. This material cures at room temperature and is primarily used in exterior wall waterproofing projects such as glass curtain walls, metal curtain walls, roof structures, and window and door installations.

Features of Architectural Silicone
1. Non-corrosive to substrates
Architectural Silicone uses neutral curing technology, posing no risk of corrosion or contamination to materials such as metals, ceramics, glass, concrete, granite, and marble, ensuring a clean and aesthetically pleasing exterior wall appearance.
2. Excellent weather resistance
This product resists the effects of ultraviolet radiation, rain, salt spray, and other harsh weather conditions, making it suitable for high-rise building facades. It maintains good elasticity throughout its entire lifespan. The product’s temperature resistance range is -40℃ to 150℃.
3. No primer required
GIRAFE982 silicone weather-resistant sealant adheres firmly to most building material surfaces without the need for a primer, improving construction efficiency and reducing labor costs.
4. High Displacement Capacity
With a displacement capacity of approximately ±25%, it can adapt to deformation caused by temperature changes and wind vibrations, effectively preventing joint cracking and detachment.

1. Glass Curtain Wall Joint Sealing

2. Waterproofing Protection for Metal Curtain Wall Structures

FAQs
1. Is a primer required?
In most cases, a primer is not required. However, if the substrate surface is special, the application should be determined based on test results.
2. Can it be used for structural bonding?
This product is for weather sealing and is not recommended as an adhesive for load-bearing structures.
3. What is the curing speed?
Surface dry in 30 to 60 minutes, fully cured in approximately 24 hours.
4. Is it suitable for application on damp surfaces?
The substrate must be dry and clean to avoid affecting adhesion performance.
5. Will contact with stone cause staining?
The neutral curing system will not cause yellowing or staining of the stone.
Usage Method
- The base materials and auxiliary materials selected for the project must be tested for adhesion and compatibility, and can be put into use only after passing the test.
- The design and construction of the project must strictly abide by the technical specifications stipulated by the state for relevant projects, and refer to the “GIRAFE 982 Weatherproof Engineering SealantUsage Guide”.
- Air circulation should be maintained during construction and curing environments.
- The bonding surface of the substrate must be cleaned with cleaning solvents such as toluene, xylene or acetone.
- After the glue fills the joints, use a scraper to squeeze further inward to completely fill the joints with glue, and modify the glue surface before it solidifies.
Restriction of Usage
- Cannot be used as a structural sealant
- Cannot be used on all material surfaces that will exude grease, plasticizers or other organic solvents
- Not suitable for use in airtight places, because silicone structural sealant needs to absorb moisture in the air to cure
- Not suitable for use on frosted or damp surfaces
- Not suitable for use on places that are continuously soaked in water or humid all year round
- It is not suitable for construction when the surface temperature of the material is lower than 6°C or higher than 40°C

Maintenance
